Summary
Hypochlorite accident is a serious complication in endodontic therapy, which generates a clinical event of acute inflammation, ecchymosis and in some cases, necrosis. Even so, the usual treatment is on an outpatient basis, which includes immediate clinical procedures and pharmacotherapy. Despite this, there are times when the resolution of this accident requires hospital management, since the systemic involvement of the patients plays an important role in the development of this condition, which may aggravate certain signs and symptoms. Likewise, its management is also affected by the interactions between the organism, drugs and the pathological condition in course, requiring thorough follow-up in the subsequent care. The aim of this article is to report a case of hypochlorite accident, which was resolved in hospital due to local and systemic involvement.
KEY WORDS: accident, complication, sodium hypochlorite, endodontics, pathological conditions.
