Summary
The purpose of this paper was to present an unusual case of giant adenoid cystic carcinoma of the submandibular gland in a 72-year-old obese, hypertensive patient with a history of ischemic cerebrovascular accident, diabetes, arterial hypertension, a former smoker of 40 cigarettes a day, and supracondylar amputation of both lower limbs that come to the consultation for the first time after several years of evolution and that in recent months have grown at an accelerated rate. A command operation of the submandibular gland was performed, removing a well-defined tumor, which weighed 1,100 g and an average of 11.20 by 16 by 9 cm. The patient remained hospitalized with a favorable evolution and died on the tenth day of hospitalization due to an ischemic cerebrovascular accident.
